Obviously, the above photo of Cliffie and Santa Clarita Mayor, Jo Anne Darcy, wasn’t taken at the 2001 ‘Cliffie Stone Trail’ dedication. Since Cliffie and Jo Anne were good friends for many years, I know that Cliffie would have wanted to include this photo on his website. Both of them participated and were involved in many of Santa Clarita events such as Newhall’s Walk of Western Stars in which Cliffie has a Star. Jo Anne deeply respected Cliffie and kept him informed of all the events in Santa Clarita because she knew he loved to contribute whenever he could to his community. When Cliffie had his annual Labor Day concert at Newhall Park (sponsored by the Los Angeles Musicians’ Union), Jo Anne and her friends were always there to support him. After Cliffie made his transition, Jo Anne, along with District Supervisor, Michael Antonovich, were very instrumental in making the ‘Cliffie Stone Equestrian Trail’ a reality – along with other community members and organizations. Jo Anne Darcy’s testimonial quote in Cliffie’s talent show book: “Cliffie always presented local talent on his annual country/western concerts that he’d have for the community. I was proud to participate in inducting him in Santa Clarita’s Walk of Western Stars that honors great Westerners.”
