As a tribute to Cliffie Stone for his immense contributions to his beloved Santa Clarita community, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors ordered a seven-mile Equestrian Trail - named the "Cliffie Stone Trail" - to be integrated into the prestigious "Tesoro del Valle" home development project in San Francisquito Canyon. This trail and development site is part of the silent movie star Harry Carey's former historical homestead. In Spanish "Tesoro del Valle" means "Treasure of the Valley", which is so appropriate because Cliffie was certainly a treasure in the Santa Clarita Valley as well as in the country music field. The Dedication Ceremony took place on September 6, 2001, at the Tesoro del Valle site. Rev. Jody Milligan gave the Invocation; guest speakers included: Los Angeles Supervisor, Michael Antonovich; Santa Clarita Mayor Laureen Weste; Joan Carol Stone (Mrs. Cliffie); and Cliffie's children - Linda Stone-Hyde; Jonathan Stone and Stephen Stone. The legendary Riders of the Purple Sage and Joan Carol Stone sang a medley of Western trail songs.
May the "Cliffie Stone Trail" bring blessings to all who travel on its treasured namesake.
