On September 6, 2001, Cliffie Stone was posthumously honored at a Dedication Ceremony for his immense contributions to the Santa Clarita community. Michael Antonovich (5th District Supervisor of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors), and the Department of Parks & Recreation, ordered a 7-mile Equestrian Trail – the “Cliffie Stone Trail” - to be integrated into the prestigious Tesoro del Valle home development project in San Francisquito Canyon, which is part of Harry Carey’s (popular 1920’s silent movie star) historical homestead. Guest speakers included: Frank Gonzales (Master of Ceremonies); Supervisor Michael Antonovich; Regional Recreation Director, Karen Grant; Santa Clarita Mayor, Laureen West; Mrs. Cliffie Stone (Joan Carol) and Stephen Stone (oldest son of Cliffie Stone). Cliffie’s children – Linda, Stephen, Curtis, and Jonathan - proudly attended and gave their comments. Lisa Torres sang the National Anthem; the Invocation was given by Rev. Jody Milligan; and the Riders of the Purple Sage sang a medley of Western trail songs. (Please read “Trail Quotes.”)
