On 9/06/2001, Cliffie Stone was posthumously honored at a Dedication Ceremony for his contributions to the Santa Clarita community by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. They ordered a 7 mile Equestrian Trail – the “Cliffie Stone Trail” - to be integrated into the prestigious “Tesoro del Valle” home development project in San Francisquito Canyon, which is part of Harry Carey’s (a popular 1920’s silent movie star) historical homestead.

Guest speakers included: Fifth District supervisor, Michael Antonovich; Santa Clarita Mayor, Laureen West; Mrs. Cliffie Stone (Joan Carol); and Cliffie’s children – Linda, Stephen, Curtis and Jonathan. Lisa Torres sang an a cappella version of the National Anthem, the Invocation was given by Rev. Jody Milligan and the Riders of the Purple Sage sang a medley of Western trail songs.

“Tesoro del Valle” means “Treasure of the Valley” and Cliffie was truly a treasure in Santa Clarita Valley. May the “Cliffie Stone Trail” bring blessings to all who travel on its treasured namesake.
