Gene Autry bought the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 1960s and he owned them for 35 years. In the fall of 1989, Gene decided to invite a large group of his western friends to spend an evening with him and his wife, Jackie, in their executive suite at the Angel Stadium of Anaheim when the Angels played one of their home games. The guests that Gene and Jackie invited reads like a Western’s Who’s Who and they include: George Montgomery, Casey Tibbs, Eddie Dean, Pat Buttram, Johnny Grant, Iron Eyes Cody, Monte Hale, Clayton Moore (The Lone Ranger), Buddy Ebsen, Glen Campbell, Gomer Pyle, Cliffie Stone (and there were other western people who attended who were also part of Gene’s circle of friends).
